Summer wishlist

 

Hi everybody! 

It's imposible not to think about summer clothes with this amazing weather we're having (at least here in the south). Lately I've been craving for this stuff you see above and actually, I think it's the most affordable wishlist since I started the blog (ok, maybe not the Lisa Marie Fernandez bikini and the Dannijo bracelet), are you already thinking about summer clothes?

Hace tiempo que llevo teniendo un par de cosillas en mente y que no me puedo sacar de la cabeza, pero es que  con esto del buen tiempo que está haciendo es normal pensar en la ropa de verano.

De todas las wishlists que he hecho desde el comienzo del blog creo que ésta es la más asequible de todas, más o menos... quitando un par de cosillas

Spring mode

Speaking about Garance Doré... I've had these images saved in my computer for a long time. They're from and old editorial (not this year, but last year in February) that Garance Doré shot for Vogue Nippon. Although the the clothes that Bianca Balti was wearing are now quite old, I think that beautiful clothes are never out, even less if they are colorful and floral and it's spring. Don't you think so? ♥

Y siguiendo con el tema de Garance Doré... Hace tiempo que tenía estas fotos guardadas en el ordenador. Son de un viejo editorial (bueno... viejo... de febrero del año pasado) que Garance Doré fotografió con la modelo Bianca Balti para Vogue Japón, y aunque la ropa y las tendencias parezcan ahora un poco pasadas, yo creo que la ropa bonita nunca pasa de moda, y mucho menos si son coloridas, de estampado floral y estamos en primavera ¿verdad?

Garance Doré and Fashion Week: Pardon my french

As you know, I'm a big big fan of Garance Doré and her videos (do you remember the last one of her dancing?). There was a time when she used to film a video of the most important shows she attended, and I thought her love for doing videos was over... until a month ago when she started her Pardon my french series.
So, what is Pardon my french? It's a serie of videos in which the blogger, photographer and ilustrator shows us her particular view of fashion week and how she "lives through" it: what she does, which are her favourite shows... So, if you like her as much as I do, you should not pass over these videos. Get ready for a few laughs, interviews, french accent and a mix between envy and love for this frenchie new yorker ♥

Como ya sabéis, soy una super fan de Garance Doré y sus videos (como el último en el que salía bailando para Petit Bateau). ¿Recordáis cuando hacía un video de los desfiles más importantes a los que había ido? Bueno, yo creía que su época de hacer videos había terminado hasta que hace cosa de un mes empezó una serie de videos sobre la semana de la moda neoyorkina (que luego continuó con París) y cómo ella la vivía. ¿Los habéis visto? Yo sí, en realidad como 2 veces cada uno, ¡soy una adicta! Si no los habéis visto y sois tan fanáticos de esta blogger francesa echadle un vistazo a esta serie de videos titulada Pardon my french, os aseguro que os gustarán las entrevistas y además os echaréis unas risas con sus tonterías y su adorable acento francés. How are you lovely people? As you know, I love polaroids, and I wanted to take a break from "fashion week posts" and show you something about the non-stop weekend I had a few days ago while visiting some friends. Taking a break from your routine is something we need to do sometimes ♥

¿Qué tal todo gentecilla? Después de tanto post fashion week-ero aprovecho para hacer un descanso y mostraros un poco del pasado fin de semana, agotador pero increíble. Cómo ya sabréis adoro las polaroids, y ¿qué mejor manera de enseñaros un poquillo mi visita a la ciudad de la Alhambra?

Into Taylor Tomasi Hill's apartment

Once again, we slip into Taylor Tomasi's apartment in NY city (ok, not us, but Vogue US).
Although we saw her other apartment in New York and her office some time ago, I wanted more, and surprisingly Vogue came up with this shots of her new home (shared with her husband).
It looks as impredictable and eclectic as the owner, don't you think so? ♥

Otra vez andamos curioseando en la casa de Taylor Tomasi Hill. Esta vez, aunque ya habíamos visto su (otro) piso en Nueva York y su oficina, nos colamos (bueno, Vogue US se cuela) en el nuevo apartamento neoyorkino que Taylor comparte con su marido. Aunque, sin duda, hay mucho más de Taylor en la decoración que de su pareja: totalmente impredecible y ecléctico como la dueña, ¿no os parece?

Who is Kony?

There are sometimes in life when we should start worrying about problems that really matters.

Thanks to Judit I got to know #1 war criminal's name yesterday, Joseph Kony. Kony is a guerrilla group leader, head of the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army that is trying to establish a teocratic government in Uganda). To explain it shortly, Kony forces boys to become soldiers (making them to kill people) and girls to become sex slaves. If you want to know more, just watch the video below, I'm sure you won't regret spending 30 minutes of your time in it.

Hay veces en la vida en que hay que bajarse de la nube en que vivimos, dejar de preocuparnos por nuestras tonterías y empezar a preocuparnos por cosas reales.

Gracias a Judit, ayer conocí el nombre del criminal de guerra #1, Josheph Kony, seguro que para la mayoría desconocido hasta ahora. A modo de resumen, Kony, dirigente del LRA (un grupo guerrillero que supuestamente "trata" de establecer un gobierno teocrático en Uganda), lleva desde hace 20 años secuestrando a niños y niñas, convirtiéndolos en soldados a ellos y a esclavas sexuales a ellas.

PS. Of course, not everything that it is said on the video it's true (they've manipulated the number of boy soldiers among other suspicious stuff), but it definetely will do for the cause, that is make people aware of the things that are happening in the other side of the world and encourage them to act and and beware of Joseph Kony.

PD. Por supuesto, hay que ser consciente de no todo lo que se dice en el video es cierto (han exagerado los números de niños reclutados entre otras cosas) y de que la aparición del niño parece una "estrategia publicitaria" para enternecer el corazón de los americanos más que otra cosa, pero a pesar de todo cumple con su función, que es concienciarnos de lo que está pasando en Uganda e impulsarnos a actuar.

A little bit from Milan and Paris

Jil Sander

In my opinion, best collection of the whole fashion week. Raff Simons made everybody stand up and clap their hands while he said goodbye and left Jil Sander. I loved it. Those dresses, make up, crazy silver shoes -that perfectly contrasted with the beautiful feminine clothes-, coats, were perfect, and everything in pink, white, red and black (even the roses that decorated the runway) ♥
La mejor colección de toda la semana de la moda. El desfile de Jil Sander servió de despedida a Raf Simons, que abandona la firma dejando a todo el mundo de pie y aplaudiendo tras la maravilla de colección que enseñó hace unos días en Milán. Unos vestidos preciosos, unos abrigos igual de bonitos y unos zapatos que eran el perfecto contraste a todo ello. Todo en rosa, blanco, negro y rojo (y algo de nude), incluso las docenas de rosas que decoraban la pasarela por aquí y por allá.

Prada

The pleasure of fashion, that's what this collection was all about. Menswear, pajama dressing, lots of print mix, and powerful warrior-ish make up. Sometimes it takes me some time to "digest" Prada collections, this time it didn't. It was a-we-so-me (read it á la Barney Stinson).
Esta vez, Miuccia Prada "tan sólo" quería mostrar el placer de la moda, frente a tanto significado que buscan algunos diseñadores a sus colecciones. ¿Cómo? Pues con prendas que recuerdan a pijamas, ropa de hombre y un maquillaje muy guerrillero. Si otras veces me cuesta algún tiempo digerir una colección de Prada, esta vez no tardé nada en absoluto (claro, que las mezclas de estampados por todos lados y esos toques de pedrería en los trajes contribuyeron mucho mucho).

Cacharel

It has been only a few seasons since I take a look at Cacharel collections. They're so girly, so beautiful, full of soft colours. Ling Liu and Dawel Sun (the new creative directors) sure did a great job. Even the models were smiling! Too sweet not to like it. By the way, the hair styling and make up were as nice and cool as the caleidoscopic print.
Ling Liu y Dawel Sun, los nuevos directores creativos al cargo de Cacharel, hicieron un muy buen trabajo con esta colección, ¡tanto que incluso algunas modelos iban sonriendo en la pasarela! Sin duda fue muy bonita, muy de niña buena con unos estampados tipo caleidoscopio muy muy chulos.

Christian Dior

It may sound like I'm overreacting, but: sooo cool again. I really liked Dior. It was very 40s, very classy, femenine, extremely beautiful dresses... (sight)
No quiero aburriros con tanta emoción ni que parezca que me he tomado anfetaminas o algo, pero Dior fue otra colección genial. Las prendas tenían un aire muy de Dior en los años 40 con unos vestidos preciosísimos.

Isabel Marant

What am I doing posting about Isabel Marant? Ok, I'm starting to like it.
This time, Navajo prints were substituted by western boots (seriously, will they come back again?), shirts and prints at the same time as beautiful dresses and that effortlessly chic vibe that have make this girl famous took possession of the runway.
Sí, bueno, tengo que reconocer que, a pesar de las botas vaqueras (por favor, que no vuelvan desde el pasado más remoto otra vez), le estoy cogiendo el gustillo a Isabel Marant. Esta vez los motivos navajos dieron paso a las camisas del lejano oeste mezcladas con vestidos y otras prendas más occidentales.

Lanvin

How did Alber Elbaz celebrated his 10 years at Lanvin? Music (Qué será, será, sung -only a few verses- by Alber himself), celebrities, fashion insiders and champagne everywhere after the show, which started with bright colours that got darker to end with extremly luxurious dresses and accesories.
¿Cómo celebró Alber Elbaz (la cabeza pensante que lleva en Lanvin 10 años) su décimo cumpleaños en la firma? Pues con mucha música (incluso dicen que cantó un cachito de Qué será, será), famosas, gente del mundo de la moda y champán por todos lados. Una buena celebración sin duda que siguió al desfile, lleno de vestidos coloridos, otros más oscuros y otros muy muy lujosos, algo extravagantes, acompañados de muchas joyas.

Aunque ha pasado algún tiempo desde que fueron los Oscar, ¿quienes fueron vuestras favoritas?
Yo me quedo con Jessica Chastain y su preciosísimo vestido, Gwyneth (sin la capa, eso sí), Kate Mara (en mi opinión mucho mejor que su hermana, que captó toda la atención) y Maria Menounos (aunque sólo su vestido). ¿Qué decís?
